These are a range of smaller works taken from sketch pad notes during and after walks in London,Paris and Spain

WILDING SERIES:

• Created after a residency in the arid landscapes of Spain, this work represents the "Land Walker" ethos in a rural context. Using found pigments and sticks as brushes, Mendes bridges the gap between the ancestral land its people and contemporary abstraction. The work is a direct result following trance in a state of shamanic meditation.
